Getting pregnant with endometriosis

The effect of endometriosis on fertility depends on how severe the condition is. For some, especially those with minimal to mild endometriosis, pregnancy can happen naturally without any medical treatment.
In cases of moderate to severe endometriosis, laparoscopy may be recommended. During this procedure:
Endometrial tissue is either removed or treated
Scar tissue (adhesions) is gently separated
Cysts related to endometriosis are removed, if present
The fallopian tubes are checked to make sure they’re open
If pregnancy doesn’t occur after surgery, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is still an option and can help overcome some of the challenges caused by endometriosis.
